Born Selly Oak Hospital Birmingham 7th January 1983. He has two older brothers Mark and Brett. He resided with his mother June and brother Brett. Stuart was a happy and contented baby and toddler. Education Started playschool at Matchborough West Playschool Redditch at 3 years old. Started with 3 days and enjoyed it so much soon was going 5 days. Attended Icknield First School Redditch at aged 5 In an annual report of 1991 his class teacher said “ A popular member of the class, a willing worker in any group. Stuart would perhaps be seen as a dominant worker in a group.“ Extra curricular activities Choir Music Festival Recorders Country Dancing festival Road Safety Cycling Awareness Swimming Certificates In an annual report for 1992 his class teacher said “An eager worker in some subjects but chatty in things which do not interest him.” Cross Country Event District Sports Ten Step Award Scheme Red and Yellow swimming Braids During this period he attended the Beavers and was also a boys Scout. Attended Moatfield Middle School Redditch from September 1992 to July 1996. Whilst at middle school Stuart was an active participant in sports and games including:- Hockey Football Rugby - Received work of the week for ‘ outstanding performance at the district rugby tournament’ Basketball He also raised money for charity delivering the NSPCC magazine. He was constantly recognised by his teachers for producing good school work and regularly received certificates for worker of the week, his attendance was good. His final report from Moatfield Middle School said "Stuart has many strengths ... Stuart is an able pupil who has been a pleasant and helpful member of his class ... Stuart shows much promise". Attended Arrow Vale High School in Redditch from September 1996 to July 1999. Whilst at Senior School Stuart continued to actively participate in Basketball, In July 1996 Stuart successfully reached the standard necessary to be awarded the Apprentice Referee Award, from the English Basketball Association and went on to coach a girls basket ball team at Arrow Vale High School and in December of that year received congratulations for achieving one of the best overall performances in the year group that term he also received an Achievement Certificate for reading in the Christmas Assembly and had 100% attendance for the autumn term. The headmaster said “Stuart has made a good start to his work in the high school” In 1997 Stuart was awarded a Year Nine Form Prize at the annual prize giving evening. He was a member of the Razor Backs Basketball Team who won the under 14s Basketball Tournament and attended the trials for the Birmingham Bullets Basketball Team. He received certificates for taking part in the Gym and Dance Display and for Commitment In Basketball. During May he successfully completed a training course in the Learning Resource Centre. Throughout the year he received 4 Certificates of Merit for, outstanding work, excellent behaviour, good co-operation, or for being helpful to others. He has worked with enthusiasm and has been very conscientious. I am glad to see the progress he is making and also the way he has grown up into a helpful and pleasant young man” In June 1998 his form teacher said “Stuart is a lively member of the form at times … he is very sociable and good humoured. He gives a lot back to the school especially when helping with the girls Basketball team. Stuart has achieved an excellent 99% for attendance. Well done!” Headmaster’s Comment “ Congratulations on an excellent school report. Stuart should set high targets and then endeavour to achieve them .” In July he was given a Two Star Award of Merit for Commitment in Trampolining and Gymnastics. Throughout the year he received 2 Certificates of Merit for, outstanding work, excellent behaviour, good co-operation, or for being helpful to others. Stuart went to AM Screenprints for work experience and was designing and making t-shirts. In 1999 Stuart went on a Skiing Trip abroad with the school and took part in the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. He played basketball for Redditch Royals and trained three times a week also he coached the school girl’s basketball team to a second place in their first tournament. He played in the school basketball team and got a runners up medal. In February Stuart’s Head of Year’s Comment “ A good report with continued hard work Stuart will achieve the success he deserves“. Qualifications GCSE Mathematics B Science B D&T Graphic B D&T Res. Mat . B English C Speaking & Listening B English Literature C Religious studies E Art D GSCE ( Short Course) Geography C I.T. C French C New College BTEC National Diploma in Computer Studies two year course completed in 2001. Working Life Stuart was a self starter and had remained in continuous employment since he left full time education, and even whilst studying he maintained a part time job. As soon as Stuart could legally start work he gained employment at Safeway Supermarket. Stuart was a well loved and popular member of staff, he started as a part time shop assistant then progressed to a full time member of staff. Stuart became self employed and trained as a carpenter, which he continued to work as until his demise. Stuart attended a Trade Talk for Carpentry and Joinery run by the NHBC on the 31/3/04 and on the 3/04/06 passed the CITB - Construction Skills Health and Safety Test. His ambition was to become a wholetime Fire Fighter, he had two unsuccessful attempts first with Warwickshire Fire Service and this year in March 2006 he was called for a final selection interview at the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority and much to his disappointment he was unsuccessful at the final hurdle. Stuart started to worked part time in August 2005 in the evenings as a lighting jockey at Fuse Night Club in Redditch on Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday, and on the first Wednesday of each month he was involved with the under 18s youth disco. He also formed a dance group with two friends, called the Yorkie Boyz which he was hoping would become a success. Hobbies Motorcycling Listening to Music Dancing Indoor rock climbing Skiing Football Cinema Stuart continued to play basketball regularly for fun. Personality Stuart rented his eldest brother Mark’s flat for 12 months and only returned to the family home in October 2005 . Stuart loved this time of independence and was reluctant to come home but his flatmate could no longer afford his share of the bills. Of course I was thrilled to have my little one back at home. He was a friend as well as a son. Once Stuart befriended someone they became a friend for life and he put friends before himself, he was loyal generous and kind-hearted. Stuart was not judgemental, he socialised with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds both male and female. He was always loving and happy never sad, Stuart was the confidante of all his friends and would travel miles just to support them when he was needed sometimes offering mature advice far in excess of his 23years,always with a ready smile. He had an amazing zest for life, always looking for a new and exciting experiences. He had booked a holiday with Brett and his best friends family to go skiing during the Christmas break. He said of himself … “Right I am Styz this is how I see everything! Life is a joke, it ain't never easy we all expect it to be but lets face it, we gotta work most of it, need to sleep a majority of the rest of the time and remember very little of the rest of the time, cus it gets lost in our memories, cus of the day to day grind!! Ha ha I will try to please everyone before myself, and will do anything for my friends if you know me you'll know this to be true if not then you got to get to know me to find out!! Live it like you ain't got a tomorrow I do, I like to always be happy and lively I got more energy than I can use in 24 hours, so I like to make sure I enjoy it! I love my Bike…! I am protective of everyone I know… !! If I am not working in a club I will be Dancing in one. I don't drink and hate drugs so I will be on the floor all Night.”
